The lease at our new home for at least the next 18 months starts on Monday. Hopefully the moving truck arrives that day and not Tuesday or Wednesday. I really want to finally settle in. The single family house is a 2 story, 3 bedroom, 2.5 bath 1750sf home built in 2000 in Mill Creek, WA. These are some photos from the listings and on visits when it was empty. I will take more pictures of the place once we get settled.
The yard isn’t completely fenced in, but being on a cul-de-sac the grass yard is fenced from the next neighborhood behind us. We’ll just have to train Chance to stay in our area like we did at the house in Bellingham. If that doesn’t work, we’ll have to install a cable run between the deck and back fence and attach her to a tether. I hope she finds a place to go to the bathroom in the rain because there isn’t an area near the door that is covered. The deck will be nice for outdoor barbeques. I’m ready for some smoked salmon.
The entry is a 2 story space with hardwood floor.
The downstairs half-bath.
The living room is quite large. There is a gas fireplace and sliding glass door out onto the back deck.
The dining room is open to the kitchen and the living room. It has a nice bay window to the back yard.
The kitchen is spacious with tile countertops and white appliances. The upper cabinets are very tall. I’m excited to have more storage space in the kitchen. There is an eat-up bar. The pantry is big and there is also a desk in the kitchen.
The stairs off the front door entry.
Looking back down the stairs from the large landing upstairs.
There are French doors into the spacious master bedroom and a window to the backyard.
The master bath has a nice oval tub, a separate glass door shower, and a double sink vanity. The master walk-in closet is off the master bath. The shelving is laid out evenly so I might finally have an equal amount of space in the closet. I can’t wait to finally get bedroom furniture.
The front bedroom is larger with a nice semicircle transom window. The third bedroom will probably function as our gym/office and the other as the guest room. Also upstairs is the second full bath and laundry room.
The good news about our long commutes, is we both have a mode of public transportation to take: Joe north, me south. I will drive close to 5 miles (10-15 minutes) south to a park and ride, to pick up the bus to downtown. It’s about a 50 minute bus ride on average. One of my benefits is for $20 a month I have an annual ORCA card for unlimited bus, light rail and sounder commuter rail transit. Joe will drive 3 miles north to another park and ride (8-10 minutes). There are more people just as crazy as him commuting even further to his work. Here he will get on a van carpool with several of them. It’s about an hour drive to his work. One day a week he will have to drive himself for an early morning conference call. In Mill Creek, we’re 60 miles to Mount Vernon & 23 miles to downtown Seattle (30 minutes on good days with no traffic).
Email me if you’d like our new address.
