Shugarts Visit: Snoqualmie Falls, Tiger Mountain Hike

Sunday, August 26, 2012

Today we went hiking. We drove out to Snoqualmie Falls, a 270 foot waterfall.

Chrissi & Pat Shugart at Snoqualmie Falls.

Unfortunately there is still construction going on so the trails in the area were closed down. Instead Jackie picked out a trail on Tiger Mountain near Issaquah.
On the drive and getting ready for the trail we told the Shugarts stories about beers in Alaska and how one of the trail reviews for this specific trail had a bear sighting 2 weeks before. We are entering bear and cougar habitat.
More hiking in Northwest ferns.

Trees covered in moss everywhere.
Uphill climb.
We introduced the Shugarts to the nasty banana slugs.
Bridge crossing #1.
Sweaty hiking cuties.
Chance getting a fresh drink of water.
Jackie likes to climb in old tree trunks.

Cool view from inside the tree.
Run I hear a bear! Just kidding! I enjoyed freaking Pat out about native wildlife.
More moss.

Tree mushroom.
Stream crossing #2. Nice pics thanks to Chrissi!

Stream crossing #3. Bridge needed some work so we had to cross the old fashioned way.

The trail description mentioned crossing 3 streams and then the view opening up at the turn for the continuation of the next trail. The view never opened up. The entire view was more Northwest forest. Yet another letdown of reading great trail reviews and the trail not turning out quite what was described. At least it was fun. The shade of the trees kept us cool on the climb.

Jumping action shot!
Northwest forest.

That’s one busy woodpecker.
On the way back down.
 AHHH bear!
