Lake Samish

Friday, May 13, 2011

Today when Joe got home from work we drove over to Lake Samish to hike as a family. We parked at Samish Park and hiked along the shoreline and then a bunch of switch-backs up the hill. It is densely forested.

There was a seasonal waterfall running down the hill to the lake.

We then drove around the rest of the lake, lusting after the waterfront homes. This lake is nestled between the Chuckanut Mountains.  It can be seen from I-5, just south of Bellingham.

We dropped Chance off at the house and then went to Chuckanut Brewery for a drink and some quesadillas. We then drove to downtown and decided to try Mallard fresh-made ice cream. I had a waffle cone of mint oreo and Joe had a waffle cone of mocha chocolate, which was amazing. I can see why so many people recommended this place. Very yummy. To round out dinner on the way home we stopped by a local taco truck for 3 tacos of chicken, carne asada and pulled pork. All in all a great Friday night out!
