Silver Lake

We decided to go for breakfast since we didn’t have anything at the house. We drove by our nearby pho place, which was closed for the holiday. We drove by at least 4 other pho places a few miles from the house. Apparently the Vietnamese like to celebrate our national independence.  I recalled a Chinese place in Mill Creek Town Center that had good reviews. It turned out to be a dim sum place called Zen Garden. Some of the wrappers weren’t that great, but the stuffing concoctions were delightful. It’s gonna be nice to have a good dim sum place near the house. We were so hungry we over-ordered dishes which caused us to eat too much.
Afterwards we took the kids to Thornton A. Sullivan Park at Silver Lake by the house. By that point I had entered into a food coma. Joe and I laid down on the grass in the sun to relax. I think I fell asleep at some point. Joe’s family has been so lucky with good weather; I fear the next visitors might have the raw end of the stick. But as the saying goes here, summer begins July 5 and ends September.
The boys played in the sand and the beach lake water.
We returned the rental minivan and ended up spending the afternoon at the house after our last few busy, busy days. We ate leftovers from dim sum and other meals from the week for dinner. After dinner, Joe took his family to the airport for their flight. He didn’t make it home until 10pm, when the fireworks shows around Seattle were beginning. We stayed at the house this year, but a good number of neighbors were setting off their own fireworks so at least I got to see some.

We definitely missed watching the fireworks with the McCabe’s and Rose’s on Lake Hickory this year. It just wasn’t the same without the endless Margarita’s, crown and coke and sliding through inner tubes off the pool diving board.
