Today a co-worker at GGLO arranged a tour of the Bullitt
Center construction site tour. This building is being touted as the greenest
commercial building in the world. The President of the Bullitt Foundation and
founder of Earth Day, Denis Hayes is a huge advocate of The Living Building
Challenge. The building will be required to be self-sufficient for energy and
water for at least 12 continuous months. An employee at Point32, the developer
of the project, led us around. Miller Hull is the designer.
Every pipe and fitting, etc is not made from PVC or
contain lead, both red-list materials in the Living Building Challenge.
All the glulam 2x6s are FCS Pure certified wood.
I’d take this office view any day.
